Diesel Fuel Spill Closes Road in Calhoun County, Michigan

In Calhoun County, Michigan, a commercial box truck collided with a grain truck/semitrailer on West Dickman Road, causing the grain truck’s fuel tank to rupture and spill 75 to 100 gallons of diesel fuel onto the road. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at 10:09 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, in Springfield. The grain truck was making a turn onto North Helmer Road when it was struck on the passenger side by the box truck, which was traveling eastbound on West Dickman Road. A passenger in the box truck sustained injuries and received treatment at the scene. Traffic was temporarily disrupted in the area due to the spill, but has since reopened. The Environmental Protection Agency was notified, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management, Springfield Fire Department, and Patriot Spill Response worked together to clean up the spill.
