Diljit Dosanjh Wore a Wig in ‘Chamkila’, Clarifies Imtiaz Ali

Despite receiving critical acclaim for his performance in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ opposite Parineeti Chopra, many fans expressed concern over Diljit Dosanjh’s appearance. The actor, who has always maintained his stance against removing his turban for any role, sparked speculations that he had cut his hair for the movie. However, Imtiaz Ali has now clarified that this was not the case.

Ali revealed that Diljit wore a ‘wig as turban’ in the film, emphasizing that he had not ‘sacrificed a single hair’ for the role. Ali stated that although he would prefer not to disclose personal information, Diljit’s appearance was achieved with a wig that resembled his turban.

In previous interviews, Diljit had expressed his firm belief that ditching his turban was non-negotiable. He had previously stated that he would not accept roles that required him to alter his turban-clad look.

Ali had earlier shared that Diljit was greatly impressed by the ‘Naram Kaalja’ song, exclaiming, ‘Baap re baap, inn logon ne kaise baatein boldi.’ Ali elaborated that during festivities, vulgar songs are often sung, particularly in traditional settings such as village weddings. He feels that these songs have a tendency to objectify men.
