Discover Airlines has announced the appointment of Marco Goetz as its new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), effective September 1, 2024. Goetz, a seasoned aviation professional, will take over the role from Helmut Woelfel, who departed at the end of August. In his new position, Goetz will oversee the airline’s commercial operations, which encompass revenue and network management, customer experience, and service.
Goetz joined Discover Airlines in May 2020, shortly after its inception, and has played a pivotal role in its development. Since March 2021, he has served as Chief Revenue Officer, where he demonstrated his prowess in managing the airline’s overall revenue and establishing global sales channels. He has a particular focus on the tour operator sector.
Prior to his tenure at Discover Airlines, Goetz acquired significant experience within the Lufthansa Group, holding various management roles in network planning, procurement, and revenue management at Lufthansa Airlines and Lufthansa CityLine in Munich.
Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines, expressed confidence in Goetz’s ability to lead the airline’s commercial operations. “Marco Goetz has known the airline since day one and understands what is important for further development and positioning in the leisure travel segment. I am happy that he will take on the role of Chief Commercial Officer in the future. At the same time, I would like to thank Helmut Woelfel for his commitment and for setting the commercial course in the development of the airline in recent years,” Bauer said.
Goetz’s appointment comes at a time of growth for Discover Airlines, and his extensive experience and proven track record position him well to lead the airline’s commercial strategy and drive its continued success in the leisure travel market.
