Disney has announced a bold expansion strategy for its theme parks, filled with thrilling new attractions and immersive experiences. The news was unveiled at the D23 fan convention by Walt Disney Experiences Chairman, Josh D’Amaro. The plan includes the introduction of four new cruise ships and six new themed lands across various parks.
One exciting addition is a Disney villains-themed land at Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. At Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California, the Avengers Campus will be expanded. Disney also shared details about its collaboration with Epic Games, the creators of Fortnite.
As part of Disneyland’s 70th-anniversary celebrations next year, a new show centered on the life of Walt Disney will debut. This show will feature an audio-animatronic figure of the company’s founder.
In Orlando, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to get a new Tropical Americas expansion with two exciting attractions. One will take visitors on an Indiana Jones adventure through a Mayan temple, while the other, inspired by the animated film “Encanto,” will follow Antonio as he receives his magical gift. This expansion is slated to open in 2027.
Actor Billy Crystal announced a new area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios dedicated to the Pixar film “Monsters, Inc.” This section will include a suspended roller coaster, simulating a thrilling ride through the door vault at the Laugh Factory. This experience will echo the movie’s characters, Mike and Sulley.
Additionally, Pixar’s “Cars” franchise will be incorporated into a re-imagined section of Frontierland at Magic Kingdom in Orlando. This will include two new attractions. One will offer guests an off-road adventure through the wilderness beyond the fictional Radiator Springs. Construction for this project is set to begin early next year.
