Disney Vacation Club recently unveiled details about the forthcoming Island Tower set to grace Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows at Walt Disney World Resort. Scheduled to debut in December 2024, construction is already underway for the highly anticipated addition.
Staying true to the resort’s existing Polynesian theme, the Island Tower promises to transport guests to the allure of the South Pacific islands, offering adventure and the splendor of nature. Accommodation options will cater to varying group sizes, ranging from cozy duo studios to expansive one- and two-bedroom villas, including new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Additionally, deluxe studio rooms will be introduced, complementing the existing offerings at the resort.
The forthcoming 10-story tower will draw architectural inspiration from early concept art of the legendary property by Walt Disney Imagineering. This captivating expansion heralds a fresh chapter at the resort. The tower’s lobby will feature a breathtaking ceiling art installation that echoes the essence of the South Pacific Islands and showcases a diverse array of indigenous wildlife. Each creature symbolizes values deeply rooted in the island culture, fostering a profound connection to the region.
The enchantment unfolds as guests traverse the lobby, encountering larger-than-life artwork that vividly embodies the spirit of the islands. From sculptures meticulously fashioned from repurposed fishing nets to chandeliers adorned with thriving moss plants, Walt Disney Imagineering collaborates with talented artisans to craft awe-inspiring masterpieces inspired by Polynesian heritage and a commitment to conservation, sprinkled with the unmistakable touch of Disney magic.
The Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is designed to meet Disney’s 2030 environmental objectives while delivering the renowned experience expected from Disney Vacation Club. Anticipated to consume approximately 30 percent less energy than a typical resort of its size, the tower employs various strategies such as optimized heating and cooling systems, energy-efficient lighting, and the pioneering use of an all-electric kitchen in its restaurant, a first on Walt Disney World Resort property. Additionally, a significant portion of the tower was prefabricated off-site, minimizing construction waste.
