Emergency services responded to reports of a person being struck by a train between Kingston and Teddington, leading to the closure of all lines in the area. Power was shut off to allow access for emergency workers, but lines have since reopened. However, delays are expected to continue until the end of the day for South Western Railway trains.
National Rail reported that various services were affected, including Waterloo to Teddington via Richmond, Waterloo to Strawberry Hill via Kingston, and Waterloo to Shepperton. The incident also caused delays and cancellations on multiple South Western Railway trains.
Road closures were also implemented along the A3214 Buckingham Palace Road Southbound between A302 Victoria Street and Grosvenor Gardens / Lower Belgrave Street due to an emergency services incident involving horses bolting through central London. One soldier was injured when a spooked horse hit several vehicles.
Traffic congestion was reported on the M25 anti-clockwise from J24 A111 Stagg Hill (Potters Bar) to J23 A1M (South Mimms) because of a stalled car. Lanes have reopened, but delays persisted.
A points failure between Woking and Weybridge blocked all lines towards Surbiton, affecting services between London Waterloo and Weybridge / Woking / Alton / Basingstoke. Trains faced delays of up to 20 minutes or were revised.
On other lines, emergency services dealt with an incident at Birmingham New Street, causing delays of up to one hour. The Jubilee and London Overground lines returned to normal service.
South Western Railway train lines between Wimbledon and Teddington reopened after the earlier incident, but disruptions were expected to continue until at least 10am, with cancellations, delays, or revised services. Minor delays remained on the Northern line between Finchley Road and Stanmore northbound due to an earlier faulty train at Bond Street, while no service operated between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction because of an obstruction on the track at Clapham Junction.
