Diwali Festivities Turn Tragic in Andhra Pradesh: Double Fatality in Kakinada, Firecracker Explosion in Eluru

The joyous festivities of Diwali in Andhra Pradesh were tragically overshadowed by two separate incidents that resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. In Kakinada district, a family feud escalated into violence, leaving three members of the same family dead. The victims, identified as Bathula Ramesh, his son Bathula Chinni, and his grandson Bathula Raju, were found deceased with their heads smashed and their hands clutching sickles, suggesting a brutal struggle.

Police investigations point towards a long-standing animosity between the families, with derogatory remarks exchanged before the fatal incident. Some reports also suggest that an extramarital affair might have been the catalyst for the violence.

In a separate incident in Eluru town, a man lost his life and several others were injured in a horrific firecracker explosion. The incident occurred when two individuals were transporting a bag of firecrackers purchased for Diwali celebrations on a two-wheeler. The bag, containing “onion bombs” and other explosives, fell on the road and detonated, resulting in the immediate death of the rider. The pillion rider, along with two bystanders, sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

The Kakinada incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with authorities swiftly deploying a police picket to maintain peace in the area. Investigations are ongoing in both cases, aiming to bring the perpetrators to justice. The incident highlights the dangers of unchecked family feuds and the inherent risks associated with the handling of firecrackers, even during festive occasions.
