Diwali Tragedy: Woman Stabbed Over 50 Times by Husband’s Second Wife in Madhya Pradesh

A horrifying incident unfolded on the festival of Diwali in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, leaving one woman critically injured and highlighting the dark side of jealousy and violence within a polygamous relationship. Mansi, the second wife of Rambabu Verma, was arrested for stabbing her husband’s first wife, Jaya, over 50 times. A chilling video of the attack, which surfaced online, shows Mansi, with blood staining her clothes, standing over Jaya, who lay in a pool of blood with a knife in Mansi’s hand. The video further reveals Mansi kicking Jaya in the face and hurling abuses at her after the brutal stabbing spree.

The incident occurred on October 31st when Mansi, 22, and Jaya, 26, engaged in a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Mansi reportedly attacked Jaya with a knife, inflicting over 50 wounds. The two women shared the same husband, Rambabu Verma, who married Jaya in 2019 and subsequently married Mansi in 2021 due to Jaya’s ill health. Police confirmed that Rambabu’s first wife, Jaya, had been battling health issues, prompting him to take another wife.

Jaya is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and her condition is said to be critical. Police have registered a case against Mansi and are awaiting a statement from the victim to further their investigation.

This incident follows other horrific crimes that occurred during Diwali celebrations. In Nagpur, a 25-year-old man, Amol Waghmare, was fatally stabbed by a teenager during an argument over the bursting of firecrackers. In Delhi, a 17-year-old boy, Sahil, was stabbed by another teenager after a dispute over firecrackers in northeast Delhi.

These incidents serve as grim reminders of the dangers of unchecked anger and violence, particularly during celebratory periods. Authorities are urging individuals to celebrate festivals responsibly and maintain peace and harmony.
