DJI, the renowned drone manufacturer, has just launched its smallest and most affordable drone yet, the Neo. This miniature marvel has already made waves at the recent IFA tech show in Berlin, Germany, earning a spot on Digital Trends’ list of the best tech showcased.
The Neo is a pocket-sized powerhouse, weighing in at a mere 0.3 pounds (5 ounces or 135 grams). Its compact design and four rotor guards allow for safe takeoffs and landings, even in the palm of your hand. Forget about clunky controllers; the Neo can be piloted directly from your phone, adding to its user-friendly appeal.
Despite its diminutive size, the Neo packs a punch when it comes to performance. It can fly for up to 18 minutes on a single charge and boasts a high-quality 4K camera capable of capturing stunning footage. For still photography enthusiasts, the Neo’s 1/2-inch image sensor allows for sharp 12-megapixel stills.
While the Neo allows for hands-free flight with its autonomous features, which keep the subject in the camera frame, you can also manually control it with your phone. If you already own a DJI controller, you can use that as well.
DJI executive Ferdinand Wolf aptly describes the Neo’s purpose: “The DJI Neo strives to give people the latest tech in the smallest form factor so that they can capture their daily lives, saved as treasured memories, safely and with ease.”
The DJI Neo is available for preorder in the U.S. for just $199, with shipping commencing in October. A combo set, which includes additional accessories, is available for $289. This makes the Neo not only DJI’s smallest drone but also their most affordable offering to date. So, if you’re looking for a compact, user-friendly drone that packs a punch, the DJI Neo is a surefire winner.
