Doctor Shot Dead in Delhi Hospital: Police Investigate Targeted Killing

A shocking incident unfolded in Delhi on Thursday morning as a doctor was shot dead at a private hospital in Jaitpur. The victim, identified as Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner (BUMS), was killed by an individual who had visited the hospital the previous day for an injury. According to police, the accused sought medical attention at Neema Hospital in Jaitpur, under the Kalindi Kunj police station area, and later requested to meet Dr. Javed. After being granted an appointment, the accused entered the doctor’s cabin and fatally shot him before fleeing the scene.

CCTV footage from the hospital captured the accused exiting the premises, leading to an immediate investigation. The District Crime Team and FSL Rohini Team were dispatched to the scene, and a search operation is underway to apprehend the absconding suspect. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to track down the accused and are diligently investigating all aspects of the case.

Initial investigations suggest that the accused are minors and the incident appears to be a targeted killing, as there was no apparent provocation. This incident follows a recent shooting death in Dwarka, where a 36-year-old caretaker of a building was shot dead after intervening in a dispute between two tenants over loud music.

In response to the rising crime rates in the national capital, Aam Aadmi Party leaders have placed blame on the central government and the Delhi Lieutenant Governor. Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj took to social media to express his concern, alleging that the Central government and Delhi LG V.K. Saxena’s administration have failed to address the escalating crime situation. He stated on X (formerly Twitter), “Delhi has become crime capital–gangsters operating with ease, extortion calls and firings, and daily murders. Central Govt. & @LtGovDelhi have failed in their basic work for Delhi.”
