Doctors Protest in Delhi Demanding Justice for Kolkata Doctor Murder

Doctors in Delhi are taking a stand to demand justice for a trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered in Kolkata. All Delhi-based Doctors’ Associations (DAs) have announced a silent protest on Friday at Rajiv Chowk in the national capital. The protest aims to highlight the need for improved safety measures for healthcare professionals and to demand swift action in this case.

Members of prestigious medical institutions like AIIMS, RML, Safdarjung, Maulana Azad Medical College, and others will participate in the demonstration. The official notice from the DAs stated that they have decided to suspend a planned strike and will instead continue with a weekly silent protest until justice is served.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lead a dharna on Saturday, August 31, calling for capital punishment for the accused. This widespread outcry reflects the deep anger and concern over the tragic incident and underscores the need for a systemic approach to ensuring the safety and security of healthcare professionals.
