Although the World Health Organization (WHO) had declared Mpox a public health emergency of international concern on August 14, the review meeting concluded that while a few imported cases might be detected in the coming weeks, the risk of sustained transmission and a widespread outbreak remains low for India at present.
Meanwhile, in Karnataka, political tensions escalated as Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a controversial land allotment case, commonly referred to as the MUDA scam. This decision stemmed from a complaint filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna, who accused Siddaramaiah and nine others of forging documents to obtain compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
