Dodgers Crush Nationals 11-2 Behind Ohtani’s Three Doubles

Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers continued their torrid start to the season on Wednesday night, routing the Washington Nationals 11-2 at Nationals Park.

Ohtani went 3-for-6 with three doubles and two RBIs, leading the Dodgers’ 20-hit attack. It was the first time in his MLB career that Ohtani had three doubles in a game. Mookie Betts and Will Smith each had four hits and a home run for the Dodgers, who have now won three straight games.

Tony Gonsolin earned his first victory of the season, allowing just one earned run on three hits in six innings. The Nationals’ lone highlight came from a home run by Jake Fraley.

The Dodgers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run single by Betts and an RBI single by Justin Turner. Ohtani made it 5-0 in the fourth inning with an RBI double, and he added another RBI double in the eighth inning.

The Nationals scored their only runs of the game in the second inning on a home run by Fraley and a walk by Juan Soto. However, Gonsolin settled down after that and retired his last 13 batters.
