A CCTV video capturing the bravery of three dogs in Nainital, India, has gone viral on social media. The 46-second clip shows the dogs fearlessly chasing away a leopard attempting to enter a house. The video begins with one dog sitting near the house door, barking and trying to fend off the approaching leopard. When the leopard tries to return, two other dogs join in, effectively scaring the predator away.
The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on July 31, has sparked widespread interest, with many praising the dogs’ bravery and highlighting the increasing encounters between humans and wild animals. The resident of the house, Kailash, told India Today that leopards have been sighted in the area for a while. He described how the leopard attacked the dogs and later him, fortunately allowing him to escape unharmed.
The incident echoes growing concerns about human-wildlife conflict across India. In Karnataka, residents of Manipal and Perampalli in Udupi district are living in fear after a leopard was spotted prowling around a house late last night.
Tragically, a 16-year-old girl named Saloni lost her life in a leopard attack in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred while Saloni was collecting grass with her mother and other women in a forest near Pilana village. The leopard attacked Saloni, causing serious injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the need for careful management of human-wildlife interactions and conservation efforts to protect both humans and wildlife.
