Family Dollar to Close 35 Locations in Ohio
Dollar Tree, the parent company of Family Dollar, has announced the closure of 35 Family Dollar locations in Ohio. The closures are expected to take place on or about April 20th and will impact approximately 260 employees.
The affected stores are located in various cities across Ohio, including Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton. As of March, Dollar Tree had over 16,000 stores across 48 states and five Canadian provinces. However, the company recently announced that it would be closing 1,000 stores, including approximately 600 Family Dollar locations in the first half of the year.
Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling cited a challenging market environment as the reason for the closures. He stated that the company had conducted a comprehensive review of its store portfolio and identified underperforming stores that were not aligned with the company’s vision.
Despite the closures, Dollar Tree has emphasized its commitment to its business and has opened 641 new locations in the past year. The company will continue to assess its store portfolio and make adjustments as needed to ensure its long-term success.
