Don’t Nod, the developers behind the popular ‘Life is Strange’ series, have announced a delay for their upcoming narrative adventure game, ‘Lost Records: Bloom & Rage.’ Originally slated for release in 2024, the game will now launch in early 2025. This decision comes after the announcement of ‘Life is Strange: Double Exposure,’ a new installment in the ‘Life is Strange’ series that is set to release on October 29th.
Don’t Nod, despite no longer being directly involved in the ‘Life is Strange’ series since ‘Life is Strange 2,’ is still closely connected to the franchise. The ‘Lost Records’ franchise, which ‘Bloom & Rage’ is a part of, was created by some former ‘Life is Strange’ developers who formed a new studio in Montreal.
The ‘Lost Records’ series is seen as a continuation of the ‘Life is Strange’ spirit, exploring similar themes of character relationships, emotional journeys, and supernatural elements. ‘Bloom & Rage’ follows a group of friends who experience a traumatic event in 1995 and must deal with the repercussions 27 years later.
The delay for ‘Bloom & Rage’ is likely a strategic move by Don’t Nod to avoid competing directly with ‘Life is Strange: Double Exposure’ for player attention. The two games share a similar target audience and genre, and Don’t Nod believes that pushing back the release of ‘Bloom & Rage’ will allow both games to receive greater focus from players and critics.
In their announcement, Don’t Nod stated, “We’ve made the decision to move the release dates of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage to early 2025. We know you’re all excited for both Lost Records and the new Life is Strange game, and we wanted to ensure both have adequate space to shine.”
‘Lost Records: Bloom & Rage’ is set to launch for PC, PS4, and Xbox Series X/S in early 2025, while ‘Life is Strange: Double Exposure’ will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 29th. A Nintendo Switch version of ‘Double Exposure’ is also in development.
Fans of narrative adventure games and the ‘Life is Strange’ franchise will undoubtedly be eager to see how both games unfold. The wait for ‘Lost Records: Bloom & Rage’ may be extended, but Don’t Nod assures fans that the extra time will be used to ensure the game reaches its full potential.
