Doraemon Embarks on a Hong Kong Adventure with MTR
This summer, Doraemon, the beloved blue robotic cat, is making a grand entrance in Hong Kong with his latest invention, the “100% Friends-Calling Bell.” Teaming up with the MTR Corporation, Doraemon is transforming the Light Rail Siu Hong Stop into a Doraemon-themed Platform and launching three special trains that will sprinkle delight and inspiration throughout the MTR network.
Doraemon-themed Platform at Light Rail Siu Hong Stop
Platform 3 at Light Rail Siu Hong Stop has transformed into the first Doraemon-themed Platform. As a key hub connecting various transport lines, it now sports a vibrant dark blue theme featuring Doraemon’s “100% Friends-Calling Bell.” The platform is festooned with thematic posters and decorations, inviting passengers on a memorable voyage.
Light Rail Vehicle Transformation
The Light Rail Vehicle itself has undergone a transformation to reflect Doraemon’s essence inside and out. Clad in dark blue, the train’s doors mimic the iconic “Anywhere Doors” in pink, while the front and rear display Doraemon’s signature yellow bell and red tail. A giant “100% Friends-Calling Bell” and playful depictions of Doraemon enhance the train’s exterior, promising an exciting journey for all. Inside, various Doraemon-themed designs grace the ceilings, handrails, and seats. This themed vehicle will make its first appearance on Route 610, running between Tuen Mun Ferry Pier and Yuen Long.
Themed Trains on East Rail Line and Airport Express
Further excitement unfolds on the East Rail Line and Airport Express with two additional themed trains. Featuring doors painted in the distinct pink of the “Anywhere Doors” and adorned with various images of Doraemon, these trains also offer a unique visual treat with Doraemon-themed interiors. The Airport Express train showcases a special “Handsome Doraemon” look from the gadget “The Lying Mirror,” exclusive to the Doraemon-themed East Rail train.
MTR Managing Director Jeny Yeung highlights the special place Doraemon holds in Hong Kong’s collective memories and expresses delight in bringing the themed platform and trains to passengers. SK Lam, Founder of AllRightsReserved, emphasizes the collaborative effort to surprise everyone with Doraemon’s presence in Hong Kong. This collaboration aims to resonate with the exhibition’s theme of true friendship and encourages visitors to gather at the Avenue of Stars for the “100% DORAEMON & FRIENDS Tour (Hong Kong)” on July 13th.
