Dr. Julie Lam Appointed as Principal of East Leyden High School

Leyden High School District 212 Welcomes Dr. Julie Lam as New Principal of East Leyden High School

Dr. Julie Lam will take over the leadership of Franklin Park’s East Leyden High School as its Principal, effective July 1, 2023. Currently the Director of Student Learning at Oak Park-River Forest High School, Dr. Lam brings a deep understanding of educational administration and a commitment to student success to her new role.

Superintendent Nick Polyak expressed enthusiasm for Dr. Lam’s appointment, recognizing her extensive experience in classroom instruction and administrative roles at both school and district levels. The selection process involved a screening committee composed of faculty, staff, administrators, and students who narrowed down the pool of 37 candidates to four finalists before最终选择Dr. Lam担任此职位。

Dr. Lam’s educational journey began as a high school science teacher. She subsequently worked as a scientist at the Museum of Science and Industry. Lam holds a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, a Master’s degree from the University of Arizona, and a Doctorate from Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Lam expressed her excitement about joining the Leyden team and the responsibility of leading East Leyden High School. She is committed to continuing the valuable work established at the school while also implementing her own expertise to meet the evolving needs of the community.

East Leyden High School, one of two high schools in District 212, serves over 1,800 students with approximately 120 full-time teachers. Dr. Lam will receive an annual salary of $185,000, effective July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
