Dramatic Shootout in Jalandhar Leads to Arrest of Two Bishnoi Gang Members

In a dramatic operation early Wednesday morning, Punjab Police successfully arrested two members of the notorious Bishnoi gang following a high-speed pursuit and intense shootout in Jalandhar. The operation led to the seizure of three pistols and numerous rounds of ammunition, highlighting the violent nature of the suspects and their ongoing criminal activities.

According to police reports, the suspects fired at officers during the chase, prompting police to return fire. The confrontation ended with the suspects’ arrest, who now face serious charges, including extortion, murder, violations of the Arms Act, and offenses under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Jalandhar Commissionerate Police confirmed the arrests and detailed the weapons and ammunition recovered: “Jalandhar Commissionerate Police (@CPJalandhar) apprehends two associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang in #Jalandhar after a hot chase and shootout. The police opened fire in retaliation after the suspects fired at them during the chase. The arrested individuals have multiple cases registered against them including Extortion, Murder, Arms Act & NDPS Act. Recovery: 3 weapons and multiple cartridges.”

This operation comes amid increasing pressure on the Bishnoi gang, a criminal syndicate with an estimated 700 shooters operating across India. The gang, led by the incarcerated Lawrence Bishnoi (currently imprisoned in Sabarmati Jail, Gujarat), is under intense scrutiny for its involvement in several high-profile murders, including the assassination of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moosewala and the killing of political figure Baba Siddique. Investigations into the gang’s widespread activities continue.

In a related development, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, was recently arrested in California, USA. His arrest followed a Mumbai police request for extradition after US authorities confirmed his presence in the country. Anmol Bishnoi is a key accused in two National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases from 2022, and the NIA had previously announced a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to his capture.

The arrests of the two Bishnoi gang members in Jalandhar represent a major victory for Punjab Police, underscoring their commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates and ensuring justice. Investigations are ongoing, as authorities continue to uncover the full extent of the Bishnoi gang’s operations and their connections.
