DRI Busts Mephedrone Factory in Nagpur, Seizes 51.95 kg of Liquid Drug, Arrests 4

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has successfully dismantled a mephedrone factory in Nagpur, marking a significant blow to the drug trafficking network. In an extensive search operation conducted on August 10, the DRI’s Mumbai Zonal Unit uncovered the illicit operation, seizing a substantial amount of liquid mephedrone.

Based on specific intelligence gathered by the agency, an under-construction building in the Paachpavli area of Nagpur was identified as the site of the illegal manufacturing activity. A meticulously planned search operation revealed a well-equipped laboratory within the building, complete with all the necessary chemicals, materials, and machinery for producing mephedrone.

The investigation uncovered a complex syndicate involved in the production and distribution of mephedrone. The mastermind behind the operation had procured and set up a complete manufacturing setup capable of producing over 100 kg of mephedrone. The syndicate had already produced more than 50 kg of mephedrone in liquid form, and further processing to crystallize or powder the drug was in progress.

The DRI apprehended and arrested the mastermind and three accomplices involved in the manufacturing process, all of whom are now in DRI custody for further interrogation. The operation was carried out with the assistance of the Nagpur police, underscoring the collaborative efforts in combating drug trafficking.

The successful dismantling of the mephedrone factory highlights the DRI’s expertise in conducting intricate investigations and executing complex operations to disrupt drug trafficking networks. The seizure of such a large quantity of mephedrone is a major victory in the fight against drug abuse and illegal drug trade. The DRI’s commitment to safeguarding the nation from the detrimental effects of illegal drugs is unwavering, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s activities and bring all perpetrators to justice.
