Dry Days Announced for Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurgaon Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Ahead of the final phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 voting, all liquor stores and other licensed premises in Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurgaon will remain closed from 6 PM on May 23 to 6 PM on May 25. This measure has been taken to ensure free and fair voting in the elections.

In Delhi, all types of liquor stores and other licensed premises will be shut down for nearly 48 hours before the end of the poll, according to a notification released by the excise department. There will also be no liquor sale on June 4, the day of vote counting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

In Haryana’s Gurugram, which will also go to polls on May 25, all liquor shops have been ordered to remain closed for 48 hours ahead of the election. Similar to Delhi, liquor sales will also be prohibited in Gurugram on June 4, the day of vote counting.

It is important to note that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has made it compulsory for cities going to poll to observe a dry day on voting day. This is to ensure that voters are not influenced by the consumption of alcohol and can exercise their franchise freely and fairly.
