In a thrilling exhibition race at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich on Wednesday, two-time Olympic gold medalist Armand Duplantis outpaced former Olympic champion Karsten Warholm in a 100m sprint.
Duplantis, known for his prowess in pole vaulting, surged ahead of the hurdling champion, finishing with a time of 10.37 seconds. Warholm, who typically excels in the 400m hurdles, recorded a personal best of 10.47 seconds in the sprint.
The race was not just about bragging rights. The athletes had a playful wager: the loser would be required to wear the winner’s national vest in the upcoming men’s 400m hurdles race at the Zurich Diamond League. This means that Warholm, who normally competes for Norway, will be sporting the Swedish vest in the Diamond League race.
The exhibition sprint provided a captivating spectacle for the Zurich crowd, showcasing the versatility of these elite athletes beyond their usual disciplines.
