Dust Storms and Strong Winds Expected in UAE, Yellow Alert Issued

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a yellow alert for the UAE, warning of potential dust storms and strong winds sweeping across several internal regions. The alert, effective today, advises residents to be prepared for challenging outdoor conditions, especially those in the Eastern and Southern regions.

The NCM forecasts powerful winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour, drastically reducing horizontal visibility to less than 2000 meters in some areas, particularly between 8 AM and 6 PM. Sporadic rainfall in the Eastern and Southern regions might provide some respite from the dust.

The weather forecast also predicts a humid night ahead, particularly along Western coastal areas, lasting into Wednesday morning. Humidity levels are expected to fluctuate, with mountainous areas experiencing as low as 15 percent, while coastal regions and nearby islands could see levels up to 90 percent.

Coupled with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 44°C in Dubai and 32°C to 45°C in Abu Dhabi, the high humidity suggests a sweltering, unsettled weather pattern.

Marine conditions in the Arabian Gulf are expected to remain relatively calm, with slight to moderate waves forecasted for the Oman Sea. Mariners and coastal visitors should stay informed about further updates as conditions may evolve.
