Dyson, renowned for its high-performance vacuum cleaners, has expanded its technological reach by unveiling its latest innovation – the OnTrac headphones. This new product marks a significant step into the audio market for the UK-based company. Dyson promises a truly immersive listening experience with the OnTrac headphones, boasting best-in-class noise cancellation and an impressive 55 hours of battery life. The headphones leverage a custom Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) algorithm powered by eight microphones, meticulously sampling external sound an astounding 384,000 times per second. This sophisticated system effectively eliminates distractions, allowing users to fully immerse themselves in their audio content. Complementing the noise cancellation capabilities are 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium speaker drivers and advanced audio signal processing. This combination ensures a rich and dynamic audio experience with powerful bass, faithfully reproducing the artist’s intended sound. Dyson has also prioritized comfort in the design of the OnTrac headphones, aiming to provide a comfortable listening experience for extended periods. High-grade foam cushions and multi-pivot gimbal arms relieve pressure on the ears, while the strategic placement of the battery in the headband evenly distributes weight. Further enhancing comfort are the soft micro-suede ear cushions and optimized clamp force, ensuring a secure and consistent fit across diverse head sizes. The OnTrac headphones are set to launch in four stylish colors: Copper, Cinnabar, and Black. However, as with many Dyson products, these headphones come at a premium price, retailing for £499.99. Despite the hefty price tag, Dyson is confident that the OnTrac headphones offer unparalleled audio quality, noise cancellation, and comfort, making them a worthwhile investment for discerning audiophiles. Jake Dyson, Chief Engineer, expressed the company’s commitment to audio excellence, stating: “Dyson’s audio engineering mission is to preserve the integrity of the artist’s sound wave, free from interference. We also wanted to create a set of headphones that people would cherish, be excited by, and be proud of. With over 30 years of experience in aeroacoustics, we’ve mastered sound physics. By reducing noise through in-house anechoic chambers and expert engineers, we’ve applied and further expanded our audio knowledge to develop the Dyson OnTrac headphones. Our first over-ear audio-only headphones deliver best-in-class ANC, exceptional sound quality, and all-day comfort through unique materials, design, and customization.”
