EACON Mining has once again demonstrated its prowess in the realm of opencast coal mining with the successful execution of its sixth AHS contract. The latest project, undertaken at the Shitoumei coal mine, boasts reserves of 10 billion tons and an impressive annual production capacity exceeding 15 million tons. EACON Mining meticulously deployed over 20 hybrid and diesel trucks, achieving a fully operational autonomous fleet within an astounding 17-day timeframe.
The initial phase of the project witnessed the deployment of a total of 23 autonomous mining trucks, strategically organized into three distinct shovel truck fleets. These fleets comprised 13 hybrid EL100 trucks, each boasting a payload capacity of 90 tons, and 10 diesel-powered trucks, capable of handling payloads of 70 tons, specifically designated for overburden mining and coal extraction. EACON deftly mobilized all trucks from various other projects under its purview.
Both models were meticulously equipped with EACON’s cutting-edge drive-by-wire systems and the company’s proprietary autonomous driving system, ORCASTRATM Pilot, at the LGMG and Tonly plants. EACON’s unwavering commitment to innovation is evident in the deployment of over 250 EL100 trucks, which have collectively traversed an astonishing 7.4 million kilometers in autonomous mode.
The continuous refinement of EACON’s turnkey AHS solution for coal mines has played a pivotal role in ensuring rapid deployment within remarkably short time frames. As a testament to this, EACON successfully deployed the entire autonomous fleet at the Shitoumei coal mine within a mere 17 days, encompassing the entire process from initial setup to full operation, without the need for safety drivers.
