Speculation has been mounting among the Walford fanbase about how the soap will be marking its epic 40th anniversary next year. EastEnders is due to hit the landmark in February and is known for pulling out all the stunts when it comes to marking the epic occasion. The last time EastEnders reached a new decade in 2015, they celebrated with a slew of live episodes which allowed them to keep storylines a closely guarded secret until they were aired live on air for the very first time. It also featured the conclusion of the long-running Who Killed Lucy Beale storyline in which Bobby was shown to have brutally murdered his sister.
With the soap turning 40, this have provided ammunition for one fan to ‘uncover’ that this number could actually seal the fate of one returning character. Marking a 40-year anniversary is known as a Ruby anniversary prompting speculation that Ruby Allen may be on her way back to Albert Square.
Played by Louisa Lytton , the character was last seen on-screen in 2021 before being sent to prison. Having had an affair with Martin Fowler, fans know she gave birth off-screen in 2022 to their baby but little else is known about the child and Martin has seemingly never met the tot. Fans have been left questioning if she will be back with the kid in tow next year.
Another theorised: “Can see this happening tbh! On the 30th anniversary (2015), pearl was born (30 yrs = pearl).” Whilst somebody else replied: “If you’re right about this you should be a fortune teller. Martin’s kid with Ruby will be 2 this year.”
