EastEnders viewers were left puzzled after spotting a mysterious man in the background of Beale’s Eels pub. Some fans speculated that he could be a long-lost Beale family member, but soap expert Sharon Marshall has now revealed the truth behind his appearance.
Marshall appeared on This Morning on Wednesday to address the mystery. She explained that the man in the photo is actually George, the owner of Manze’s pie shop in Deptford. EastEnders producers had taken a photo of George for set dressing, and it had somehow ended up in the background of Beale’s Eels.
Marshall said: “He runs Manze’s pie shop in Deptford. They [EastEnders] came along, take photos to dress the set and took a photo of him, he turned up in the back of Beale’s Eels! So that’s George! All the cast were looking at it, going: ‘Is he a mystery Beale that’s going to come in?’, they’ve all been saying: ‘Who is this actor?’ Trying to work it out, it’s George, it’s Helen’s dad!”
In other EastEnders news, Bianca Jackson will be making a return to the soap next week. Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer, was last seen in Walford in 2019, but she will be back for a short stint to help Whitney Dean with her upcoming exit.
Whitney is leaving EastEnders after 16 years on the soap, and Bianca will be there to support her through her departure. The two characters will have some emotional scenes together, and Bianca will also help Whitney to find a new home.
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
