Ecomondo 2024: A Global Hub for Green Technologies and Sustainable Solutions

Ecomondo, Italian Exhibition Group’s flagship event for the green economy, is poised to become a major hub for international collaboration on sustainable solutions. Scheduled to take place from November 5th to 8th at the Rimini Expo Centre, Ecomondo 2024 is attracting a global audience, with 650 hosted buyers expected from North Africa, Europe, North and Latin America. Delegations from over 100 countries and 72 organizations, institutions, and sector associations worldwide are set to participate, solidifying the event’s position as a key player in the global green economy.

IEG CEO Corrado Peraboni highlighted the significance of Ecomondo’s international scope, emphasizing its role as a ‘community catalyst’ through a series of events that extend beyond the exhibition itself. Maurizio Ermeti, IEG President, added that the event is experiencing a notable surge in participation from Asia, particularly Central Asia, China, Southeast Asia, Pakistan, and India.

The event’s international appeal is further enhanced by strong partnerships with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Alessandra Astolfi, IEG’s Global Exhibition Director Green&Technology, underscored the reach of Ecomondo’s international network, encompassing related events in various regions. Ecomondo Mexico (March 5-7, 2025) and Ecomondo China – CDEPE (March 27-29, 2025) are prime examples of these initiatives, aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within the green economy across different continents.

Ecomondo 2024 will place a special focus on the African continent, aligning with the Italian government’s Mattei Plan and the African Green Growth event (4th edition). This dedicated focus will be supported by collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security and the Mission Structure for implementing the Mattei Plan. To date, 8 delegations from Africa and 104 buyers from countries like Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Botswana, Senegal, South Africa, and Kenya have confirmed their participation.

Ecomondo’s commitment to fostering sustainable development in Africa is further demonstrated through its collaboration with the E4Impact Foundation. Operating in 20 African countries, E4Impact focuses on developing local entrepreneurship through its MBA training, acceleration, incubation, and support programs. The foundation’s ‘Business Networking Week in Italy’ (Milan, November 4-8, 2024) will highlight the Circular Economy and include a visit to Ecomondo, further strengthening the link between these initiatives.

Ecomondo 2024 promises to be a platform for innovation, collaboration, and tangible progress towards a sustainable future. With a global reach, a focus on Africa, and a commitment to fostering green technologies, Ecomondo is set to play a vital role in shaping the future of the green economy.
