The restaurant was awarded the 2024 Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator, a renowned organization that celebrates top global dining establishments for their wine offerings.
James Leonard, Sommelier at EDGE Restaurant & Bar, expressed his delight at receiving the award. He highlighted the meticulous selection process involved in creating their wine program, aiming to offer a unique and approachable selection of fine wines for all guests.
The Award of Excellence is presented to restaurants that showcase a diverse selection of quality producers on their wine lists, ensuring the wines are well-matched with the menu in terms of both pricing and style.
Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher of Wine Spectator, emphasized the current growth and thriving nature of the restaurant industry, with new openings surpassing pre-pandemic levels. He highlighted the importance of restaurateurs investing in their wine programs to capitalize on this positive trend, emphasizing that restaurants prioritizing wine are at the heart of the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards program.
Established in 1981, the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards are the world’s only program dedicated solely to recognizing exceptional restaurant wine service. Awards are given across three tiers: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award. This year, 2,150 establishments received the Award of Excellence, 1,531 were honored with the Best of Award of Excellence, and 96 received the prestigious Grand Award.
