In an impressive performance, Egg Harbor High School’s softball team secured a decisive 10-1 victory over Hammonton High School on their home turf. This triumph marked the end of a two-game losing streak for Egg Harbor, bringing their record to 9-4.
Payton Colbert played a pivotal role in this victory, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a towering home run that drove in three runs. Teammate Laura Mack also made a significant contribution with a home run of her own. The offensive onslaught continued with Kaci Velardi’s impressive four hits and two runs.
Despite Hammonton’s valiant efforts, it was Myra Coulter who emerged as their standout performer with two hits. However, these efforts were not enough to overcome the offensive firepower unleashed by Egg Harbor.
This resounding victory solidifies Egg Harbor’s position as a force to be reckoned with in the NJ.com Top 20 Softball rankings, where they currently hold the No. 4 spot. Hammonton, on the other hand, will look to regroup and improve their 3-9 record in their upcoming games.
