Eiza González, known for her burgeoning Hollywood career, is returning to her roots with a starring role in the Hulu series ‘La Máquina’. The series, set to premiere on October 9, 2024, brings together a powerhouse cast of Mexican talent, including Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, marking their first on-screen reunion since 2008’s ‘Rudo y Cursi’. González’s involvement signifies her return to Mexican productions after establishing herself in Hollywood.
‘La Máquina’, created by Marco Ramirez (known for his work on ‘Daredevil’, ‘The Defenders’, and ‘Orange Is the New Black’), tells the story of a boxer in his final days of glory. His manager secures him one last fight, aiming for a championship title and a dignified retirement. However, an unexpected turn of events throws a wrench into his plans, jeopardizing his chance at victory.
González will portray Irasema, the ex-wife of Esteban, the boxer played by Luna. Bernal takes on the role of the boxer’s manager. The cast also includes Lucía Méndez, Karina Gidi, Andrés Delgado, Dariam Coco, and Jorge Perugorría.
The series, directed by Gabriel Ripstein, will consist of six episodes and will be available on both Disney+ and Hulu Original. As we eagerly await its premiere, we can look forward to a compelling new Mexican series from Searchlight Television.
