FromSoftware has released a patch for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, addressing player concerns about the game’s difficulty. The patch, titled Calibration Update 1.12.2, focuses on tweaking the Scadutree Blessing, a DLC-exclusive blessing that plays a key role in the new leveling system.
The Scadutree Blessing allows players to deal and take more damage as they upgrade it, but its initial implementation led to some frustration. The patch addresses this by increasing attack and damage negation for the first half of the upgrade tree, while making the second half’s progression more gradual. Additionally, the blessing’s final level has been boosted, offering greater benefits to players who max it out.
Bandai Namco, the game’s publisher, has highlighted the Scadutree Blessing as a crucial aspect of the Shadow of the Erdtree experience. To utilize the blessing, players must collect Scadutree Fragments scattered throughout the Land of Shadow.
While Elden Ring is known for its challenging gameplay, the DLC’s emphasis on attack power as a balancing mechanism has contributed to the difficulty complaints. The patch’s focus on making the Scadutree Blessing more accessible aims to alleviate some of the frustration in the early hours of the DLC.
Beyond the Scadutree Blessing adjustments, the patch also addresses a bug where ray tracing would automatically turn on, impacting the frame rate for PC players. This issue can now be resolved by manually disabling ray tracing in the game’s Graphics Settings.
This patch is a welcome change for players who have been struggling with the game’s increased difficulty. It acknowledges the importance of player feedback and demonstrates FromSoftware’s commitment to improving the overall experience in Shadow of the Erdtree.
