Just a week after launching its new Reader App, ElevenLabs has made a significant update. The audio AI startup has announced the “Iconic Voices Collection,” featuring the voices of four classic Hollywood stars: Burt Reynolds, Judy Garland, James Dean, and Sir Laurence Olivier. This means you can now have your words spoken by these legendary actors. But how can ElevenLabs guarantee the accuracy of these voices? The company worked closely with the estates of these deceased stars to ensure their digital avatars sound just like the real actors. Liza Minnelli, daughter of Judy Garland, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “It’s exciting to see our mother’s voice available to the countless millions of people who love her. Through the spectacular new technology offered by ElevenLabs, our family believes that this will bring new fans to Mama, and be exciting to those who already cherish the unparalleled legacy that Mama gave and continues to give to the world.” ElevenLabs suggests using these voices to narrate classic literature associated with the actors – imagine Judy Garland reading *The Wizard of Oz* or Sir Olivier performing as Sherlock Holmes. These four iconic voices join over a million other user- and company-generated voices already available in the Reader App. The app allows users to upload PDFs, copy and paste text, or even link to URLs for narration. Currently, the Reader App is available exclusively on Apple devices running iOS and iPadOS 15 or later. It’s also only available in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. for now, but ElevenLabs plans to expand to the EU market by July 11th.
