Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk made a startling revelation on Monday, claiming that he had faced two assassination attempts in the past eight months. The disclosure came just a day after former US President Donald Trump survived a shooting incident at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
Musk’s statement came in response to Ian Miles Cheong, who suggested that he should heighten his security following the assassination attempt against Donald Trump. Musk revealed that two individuals were arrested with guns about a 20-minute drive from Tesla’s headquarters in Texas. He clarified that the arrests occurred on separate occasions.
“Two people (on separate occasions) have already tried to kill me in the past 8 months. They were arrested with guns about 20 mins drive from Tesla HQ in Texas,” Musk wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The incident involving Donald Trump sent shockwaves across the nation and the world. President Joe Biden urged for calm in the wake of the shooting. Trump was holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a crucial state in the upcoming election, when shots rang out. He was hit in the right ear, leaving his face with bloodstains.
“That reality is just setting in,” Trump told the Washington Examiner on Sunday. “I rarely look away from the crowd. Had I not done that in that moment, well, we would not be talking today, would we?”
One person in the crowd was killed, and two others were wounded before Secret Service agents fatally shot the suspect. Both Trump and Biden sought calm and unity in the wake of the incident. Trump is scheduled to accept his party’s nomination at the Republican National Convention with a speech on Thursday. He expressed that the speech would be significantly different due to the recent events.
“This is a chance to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together. The speech will be a lot different, a lot different than it would’ve been two days ago,” Trump told the Washington Examiner.
