Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has extended an invitation to Vice President Kamala Harris for a live interview on X’s “Spaces” feature. This follows Musk’s highly-anticipated interview with former US President Donald Trump on the same platform. Musk’s invitation, posted on X, garnered significant attention, accumulating over 2.5 million views and 7,000 reposts within 40 minutes.
While some users expressed excitement at the prospect of Harris joining the conversation, others were more skeptical, with some even suggesting that she might be too hesitant to engage with Musk. One user even launched a call to action, encouraging followers to support their belief that Harris was too afraid to join the platform.
The two-hour interview with Trump focused primarily on the former president’s criticism of Harris and her handling of immigration. Trump labeled Harris as “fake,” and “incompetent” regarding border security, claiming that the number of illegal migrants crossing US borders had increased under President Joe Biden’s administration. Trump further advocated for stricter immigration policies, arguing that the US should eliminate “migrant laborers” whom he deemed to be “terrorists” in disguise. He also emphasized the need to revive the “American Dream” and urged companies to remain in the US, warning of economic consequences if Harris were to be elected.
The interview itself faced technical difficulties, with a 45-minute delay attributed by Musk to a “massive DDOS attack” aimed at preventing Trump from being heard. The incident further fueled the controversy surrounding the interview, highlighting the potential for political and technological clashes on the social media platform.
