Elon Musk has responded to the Trump campaign’s release of over 50 examples of Democratic rhetoric that they allege “inspired assassination attempt” on former President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, Musk succinctly posted, “No wonder,” in response to a post by Mario Nawfal highlighting the Trump campaign’s assertion that inflammatory language from Democrats led to the second assassination attempt on Trump. The Trump campaign provided sources for each quote, blaming years of hostile language for inciting violence. Their statement emphasized the connection between the rhetoric and the attempted assassination.
This incident marks the second attempt on Trump’s life ahead of the 2024 election. The first attempt occurred at a campaign rally in July, labeled an “attempted assassination” by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Musk has faced backlash for a now-deleted controversial post on his social media platform, X, questioning why no one is attempting to assassinate President Joe Biden or Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. The White House criticized the post as “irresponsible.”
These events have sparked widespread discussion, including on Chinese social media, where conspiracy theories have emerged. The discussions highlight the ongoing debate about the impact of political rhetoric and its potential to incite violence.
