After a devastating loss in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Knicks, where a potential victory slipped through their fingers, Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid expressed unwavering confidence in his team’s ability to win the series.
“We’re good,” Embiid declared from the visitors’ locker room at Madison Square Garden. “We’re going to win this series.”
Embiid acknowledged the team’s need to address areas for improvement, but emphasized their determination to overcome the setback. “We know what we got to fix. We did a better job today, so we are going to fix it. We are the better team. We are going to keep fighting.”
Philadelphia’s optimism is tempered by frustration over officiating in the first two games. The team believes it should have won both games and has lodged a complaint with the league, highlighting missed calls and questionable decisions. Embiid, in particular, criticized the lack of a timeout granted during a crucial inbound pass that resulted in the game-winning shot for the Knicks.
“There’s a bunch of fouls. That’s f—ing unacceptable,” Embiid said.
The Knicks, however, maintain their focus on their physical play and determination to close out the series. “We’re down two, got to be as physical as we can be, try to get the steal,” said Knicks forward Obi Toppin.
Despite the setback and frustrations over officiating, the Sixers remain defiant, vowing to turn the series around. “We are going to win this,” Embiid affirmed.
