Embraer, a leading Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, has announced its strong performance in the first quarter of 2024, reporting increased deliveries, backlog, and maiden flight of its C-390 military aircraft.
In the first quarter of 2024, Embraer delivered a total of 25 jets across its executive, commercial, and defense segments, representing a significant 67% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The company attributed this rise in deliveries primarily to increased production and strong demand in the light business jet market.
Specifically, Embraer delivered 18 business jets in the first quarter of 2024, compared to eight in the first quarter of 2023. This included eleven light business jets, with the Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 models seeing a surge in demand. The company also delivered seven medium-sized business jets, including three Praetor 500s and four Praetor 600s.
Embraer’s private aviation segment continued its positive performance, with a backlog of over $4.6 billion in the first quarter, a $300 million increase from the fourth quarter of 2023. The company’s commercial deliveries remained stable at seven aircraft, including four E195-E2s and three E175s. However, the commercial segment saw a significant increase in backlog, reaching $11.1 billion, a 26% rise from the fourth quarter of 2023. American Airlines played a major role in this increase with an order for 90 E175s, along with purchase rights for an additional 43 aircraft.
The Defense & Security segment was the only area where Embraer experienced a decline, with a 4% decrease in backlog. The company has not delivered any defense aircraft in 2024 to date. However, the maiden flight of the C-390 aircraft for the Hungarian Air Force marked a significant milestone in its development.
Embraer’s Services & Support business unit maintained its performance level from the fourth quarter of 2023, providing customer service and support across the company’s product lines.
