Emirates Airlines has announced that it will resume its flight schedules from Dubai to Nigeria beginning on October 1, 2024. This decision comes after the suspension of flights in the previous year due to challenges related to the repatriation of funds from Nigeria, which subsequently led to the UAE ceasing visa issuance to Nigerians in 2022.
The reinstatement of flights signifies a move towards normalizing relations between the UAE and Nigeria, fostering increased travel and economic exchanges between the two nations. The pivotal meeting between Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi last September addressed several bilateral issues, including the previously imposed visa ban and potential new investments in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation.
The resumption of flights from Dubai to Nigeria is expected to benefit both countries, facilitating business, tourism, and cultural exchanges. It is a positive step towards strengthening the relationship between the UAE and Nigeria, signaling a renewed commitment to cooperation and mutual growth.
