Emirates Wins Top Honors for Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity

Emirates has been recognized for its exceptional inflight entertainment and connectivity offerings, receiving top honors at two prestigious industry awards.

At the recent 2024 Pax International Magazine Awards held in Hamburg, Germany, Emirates secured the title of ‘Best Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity Middle East’ for its outstanding Wi-Fi service and a vast selection of 6,500 channels on its ice system. Additionally, at the 2024 AirlineRatings.com Airline Excellence Awards, Emirates earned top honors for ‘Best-Inflight Entertainment’ and ‘Best Premium Economy.’

Emirates has been a pioneer in inflight connectivity, introducing onboard Wi-Fi as early as 1993 and launching the first inflight mobile phone service in 2007. The airline has invested over US$ 300 million in connectivity enhancements. Passengers across all travel classes can enjoy free connectivity by joining Emirates Skywards. Business and First Class travelers receive complimentary internet, as do Silver, Gold, and Platinum Skywards members in Economy and Premium Economy. Blue tier members have free access to app messaging in Economy and Premium Economy.

This year, as 50 new Airbus A350s begin to join the fleet, Emirates will enhance the inflight experience with high-speed broadband provided by Inmarsat’s GX Aviation. These aircraft will be the first in the Emirates fleet to utilize the Inmarsat Global Xpress satellite network, offering seamless global connectivity, including over the Arctic.

Emirates ice offers an unparalleled in-flight entertainment experience with its extensive library of 6,500 channels, updated monthly. Before flying, customers can explore and set their watchlist through the Emirates app, selecting their preferred movies or TV shows. Once onboard, they can sync their selections to ice instantly.

Emirates Premium Economy Class: A New Benchmark in Comfort

Emirates has introduced its Premium Economy Class, setting a new standard that competes with many airlines’ Business Classes. This class offers passengers luxuriously crafted leather seats with a spacious 40-inch pitch, a width of 19.5 inches, and an 8-inch recline for optimal relaxation. Each seat is equipped with calf rests, footrests, and a 6-way adjustable headrest, enhancing comfort.

Additional conveniences include in-seat charging points, a side cocktail table, and a 13.3-inch TV screen, one of the largest in its category. Passengers are pampered with sustainable blankets made from recycled plastic bottles, a large pillow, and complimentary amenity kits. The experience begins with a welcome drink served in elegant glassware.

During meals, passengers enjoy a variety of generous dishes crafted from seasonal ingredients with regional flavors, presented on fine chinaware and stainless steel cutlery wrapped in a linen napkin.

Currently, Emirates Premium Economy is available on 15 routes, including destinations such as London Heathrow, Sydney, Melbourne, Christchurch, Auckland, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, San Francisco, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Tokyo Narita, Sao Paulo, Dubai, and Osaka.
