End of School Year Activities Planned in Medina

As the 2023-24 school year draws to a close, the Medina School District is preparing for the final activities of the year and the transition to the next year. Superintendent Aaron Sable emphasized the importance of supporting families affected by the upcoming elementary school redistricting.

To facilitate a smooth transition, the district has planned open house events at Heritage and Garfield elementary schools, which will no longer serve as elementary schools next year. Additionally, students from these schools will visit their new school buildings to familiarize themselves with the environment.

The district is also excited about the Bike to School Challenge week taking place from May 6-10, encouraging students in grades K-8 to ride their bikes to school. The Medina Kiwanis Club will distribute helmets on the first day, and other incentives include stickers, pizza coupons, cupcakes, and cookies.

Moreover, the annual Strings in the Park concert will be held on May 17 at noon in Uptown Park. The free concert will feature performances by the Medina High School orchestra. The district hopes for favorable weather conditions, as a rain date was not possible due to graduation practice scheduling.
