England and Wales’ Speeding Hotspots Revealed
A new study combining data from the Home Office and DVLA has pinpointed the areas in England and Wales with the highest rates of speeding violations.
Warwickshire has emerged as the worst offender, with an astonishing 91,325 speeding violations recorded in 2022, equivalent to one for every 4.58 vehicles in the area.
Other notable speeding hotspots include Greater London, where one penalty was issued for every 4.82 vehicles, and Devon and Cornwall, where the ratio was slightly higher at one offense for every 4.64 vehicles.
Yorkshire and Southern England Also Affected
The study also identified Yorkshire as a hotspot for speeding, with both North and West Yorkshire featuring in the top 10. The analysis suggests that the county may be home to some of the nation’s most reckless drivers.
Meanwhile, the south of England appears to be particularly troublesome for speeding, with Bedfordshire and Surrey also making it into the top 10.
Welsh Drivers Among the Best at Sticking to Speed Limits
In contrast to the speeding hotspots, South Wales was found to have the lowest ratio of speeding offenses, with just one offense for every 43 vehicles. North Wales also boasts one of the lowest ratios, with only one offense for every 21 vehicles.
