England Qualifies for Euro 2025 Despite Draw with Sweden

England’s women’s national team secured a spot in the Euro 2025 tournament, despite a tense 0-0 draw against Sweden in their final Group A3 match. Despite facing a barrage of attacks in the second half, England held on to its clean sheet, thanks to a crucial save by goalkeeper Hannah Hampton. Sweden, finishing third in the group, will now compete in the playoffs for a chance to qualify.

The draw was enough for England to secure second place in the group, finishing with 11 points, just one behind France. However, France suffered a surprising 3-1 defeat to Ireland in Cork, marking Ireland’s first points in the campaign.

Elsewhere in Group A1, Italy emerged victorious with a convincing 4-0 win over Finland, securing top spot with nine points. The Netherlands also secured automatic qualification after a 1-1 draw away to Norway in Bergen.

Spain and Denmark secured their spots in Euro 2025 from Group A2, with Spain defeating Belgium 2-0 and Denmark winning 2-0 against the Czech Republic.

Germany dominated Group A4, securing qualification with a perfect record of six wins from six matches, racking up 15 points. Their 4-0 victory over Austria, however, was marred by an injury to midfielder Lena Oberdorf. Iceland clinched second place in the group, thanks to a 1-0 win against Poland.

The top two teams from each of the four League A groups have automatically qualified for Euro 2025, which will be held in Switzerland. The remaining seven spots in the 16-team tournament will be decided in playoffs involving the third and fourth-placed teams from each group.
