England’s Mark Wood Ruled Out of Day 4 Against Sri Lanka with Thigh Injury

England’s pace spearhead Mark Wood will be sidelined for the remainder of Day 4 in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford, after suffering a right thigh injury.

The injury occurred late on Day 3, when Wood pulled up abruptly during his run-up. He was forced to leave the field for treatment, with England later confirming the nature of the injury.

“He will not return to the field today and will continue to be assessed by the medical team to determine the full extent,” the England team stated.

The injury casts doubt over Wood’s participation in the remaining two Tests of the series, with matches scheduled at Lord’s from August 29th to September 2nd and at The Oval from September 6th to 10th.

Wood’s absence is a significant blow to England’s bowling attack, as he has been a key performer throughout the series, taking crucial wickets and providing valuable speed. The team will now have to adapt and rely on their other bowlers to fill the void left by his injury.
