Enotria: The Last Song, a highly anticipated Soulslike game inspired by Italian mythology, was initially slated to launch on Xbox Series X/S alongside PlayStation 5 and PC on September 19th. However, in a disappointing announcement, the developers, Jyamma Games, revealed that the Xbox version has been indefinitely delayed.
The studio cited “challenges” encountered while preparing the Xbox version for release. While initially vague on the nature of these issues, Jyamma Games later took to X (formerly Twitter) and Discord to elaborate, stating that the delay stemmed from problems on Microsoft’s side. The developers expressed frustration with Microsoft’s lack of response, claiming that the company has taken months to respond to their inquiries, making it nearly impossible to proceed with the Xbox submission.
This delay has ignited concerns regarding Microsoft’s current release strategy, particularly in light of other recent events. Earlier this year, Black Myth: Wukong, a highly successful action RPG, also faced an Xbox delay due to optimization requirements. Additionally, the upcoming first-party title Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will launch on PlayStation 5 several months after its Xbox and PC release in December.
While the news of Enotria: The Last Song’s Xbox delay is disheartening for fans, Xbox users did receive some positive news on Tuesday. Capcom announced that Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 would be released on Xbox One, after previously skipping the platform.
Despite these developments, the recent string of delays and platform exclusivity issues surrounding Xbox releases continues to raise questions about Microsoft’s approach to game launches and its commitment to delivering a consistent experience across platforms.
