Envision Energy, a global leader in green hydrogen and net zero technologies with a presence across five continents, has made a significant investment in Spain’s renewable energy future. In collaboration with the Spanish government and leading figures in Spanish and European industry and finance, Envision is set to develop Europe’s first integrated green hydrogen net zero industrial park. This innovative project will serve as a comprehensive hub for the design, research, manufacturing, and servicing of green hydrogen technologies, encompassing electrolysis, air separation units (ASUs), ammonia synthesis, and a complete module facility for scalable green ammonia production.
This initiative will play a pivotal role in driving innovation in renewable energy and decarbonizing Spain’s hard-to-abate industries. As outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed during the recent Spanish Prime Minister’s visit to China, the net zero industrial park will significantly accelerate Spain’s green hydrogen adoption plans, helping the country achieve its ambitious target of reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions (GHGs) by 23% by 2030. Envision will also establish a state-of-the-art Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence, reinforcing its commitment to both the region and its partners as they work together to implement cutting-edge net zero solutions.
The facility will boast the production of high-capacity proton exchange membrane electrolyzers, low-pressure alkaline and high-pressure alkaline electrolyzers – all crucial components for the electrolysis process required in green hydrogen production, alongside other essential module equipment. The park will play a vital role in delivering five gigawatts of electrolysis capacity, making a substantial contribution to Spain’s Hydrogen Roadmap targets of achieving eleven gigawatts by 2030. With an initial investment of USD 1 billion from Envision and its partners, the project is expected to create 1,000 new green jobs.
Drawing upon Envision’s global success in pioneering the world’s first-of-its-kind net zero industrial parks, the Spanish facility will be powered by locally generated clean energy sources, including biomass, solar, and wind energy, creating a fully green, sustainable industrial ecosystem. Construction of the facility is slated to commence in the first half of 2026, with Envision working closely with the Spanish Government to identify the optimal location for this greenfield development. This marks a substantial step forward, moving the project from the planning phase to the construction phase.
Upon completion, the facility will receive Bureau Veritas certification as a net zero industrial park. Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of Spain, stated: “Today, with your new commitment to invest a billion dollars in partnership with the industry, to build an electrolyzer factory in Spain, you are not just contributing to our economy. You are helping us to build the future, to build a better future.” Lei Zhang, Founder and Chairman of Envision Energy, added: “With its ideal resources, market scale, and expertise, Spain is well-positioned to be the European leader in green hydrogen, and Envision, together with our net zero tech partners, is thrilled to play a role in securing Spain’s green energy future.”
The Centre of Excellence will serve as a hub for building local skills and talent, fostering innovation, and attracting industrial collaborations across Spain, further boosting the nation’s green hydrogen-based industrial ecosystem. By integrating renewable energy production, energy storage, and net zero digital technology, Envision aims to help ensure a constant and clean energy supply, reduce hydrogen production costs, and demonstrate the commercial viability of this “new oil” for the global energy transition.
