Erin Townley’s outstanding pitching performance led South Plainfield to a decisive 10-0 victory over Bayonne in a high school softball matchup. Townley’s six-inning shutout was marked by her remarkable ability to strike out 10 batters while allowing only one hit and four walks.
Nicole Swatko contributed significantly to the Tigers’ offensive success, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Lindsay Oller’s two doubles, two runs, and two RBIs, along with Hailey Fonti’s two singles and two RBIs, further cemented South Plainfield’s dominance at the plate.
Bayonne’s lone hit came from Annie O’Neill, but it was not enough to prevent the Bees from suffering their first loss of the season, dropping their record to 13-1. South Plainfield, on the other hand, improved their record to 7-2 with this impressive triumph.
