Several escaped military horses created a chaotic scene in London’s city center on Wednesday, leading to a response from emergency services and the armed forces. The incident unfolded as the horses, including one that reportedly appeared covered in blood, bolted through busy thoroughfares, causing injuries and disrupting traffic. The London Metropolitan Police and the British Army later confirmed that all of the loose horses had been apprehended. News reports indicated that “a number” of horses had escaped, but two – one black and one white – garnered particular attention as they ran through the Strand and Tower Bridge, wearing bridles and saddles. The white horse seemed to be covered in blood. The British Army clarified that the animals were “military working horses” that had gotten loose during a routine exercise. The London Ambulance Service reported that its crews responded to three incidents involving horse-related injuries at Buckingham Palace Road, Belgrave Square, and the junction of Chancery Lane and Fleet Street between 8:25 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. Four patients received treatment at the scenes and were subsequently transported to the hospital.
