The couple, who are based full-time in Los Angeles, chose the picturesque Bay Area location for its special significance to Malika’s roots.
Their wedding weekend was a testament to their shared passion for sports and their individual backgrounds. The rehearsal dinner took place at Sociale, a place holding sentimental value for Malika as it was where her grandfather went on his first date. Syracuse Spritzes served at the reception nodded to Dave’s alma mater, Syracuse University. The festivities were infused with athletic symbolism, including a functional basketball hoop at the reception – a playful wink to their meet-cute at a Knicks vs. Cavaliers game in 2017.
On August 24th, the ceremony took place at Cavallo Point Lodge, offering stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The couple, engaged for 21 months, meticulously planned their wedding, incorporating personal touches that made the day truly their own.
Malika’s wedding attire reflected her commitment to supporting female and minority-owned brands. Her strapless yellow midi dress for the rehearsal dinner was a creation by Amsale, while her wedding dress, inspired by Grace Kelly, was a custom lace creation by Lotus Bridal, a Brooklyn-based bridal emporium. The dress was both timeless and modern, with a unique lace pattern and a clean, feminine skirt shape. Her accessories included custom Jennifer Chamandi shoes with their wedding date painted on the bottom and diamond drop earrings by Jessica McCormack.
Dave, envisioning a black-tie wedding, donned a navy tuxedo, standing out among his 12 groomsmen in black tuxedos. The bridal party was also dressed in black, with variations in fabric and fit to showcase their individual personalities.

For their last look of the night, Malika changed into a mirrorball-inspired minidress from Halston, while Dave slipped into Mambacita Nikes, a tribute to Kobe Bryant’s Lakers jersey numbers. The couple ended the night dancing and shooting hoops, sealing their wedding celebration with a mix of joy, love, and shared passion.
