Few shows have captured the zeitgeist like ‘Euphoria.’ The series, which wrapped its second season in 2022, has become a cultural phenomenon, launching the careers of several young actors who seem destined for Hollywood stardom. While fans eagerly await the third season, they’ll have to adjust to a significant change: a time jump.
Zendaya, the show’s star and executive producer, has expressed her enthusiasm for this narrative shift. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly’s ‘Awardist’ podcast, she revealed that the details of the upcoming season are still under wraps, but she’s confident about the time jump’s impact.
‘I don’t actually know much about what is happening,’ she shared. ‘I don’t quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening.’
Zendaya believes that the time jump is a necessary and exciting development: ‘It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I’ll be interested to see what happens, too.’
HBO executive Casey Bloys confirmed the time jump in June, adding that creator Sam Levinson has a compelling vision for the new season: ‘He’s got a take that he’s excited about, and he’s busy writing.’
With the characters stepping into adulthood, ‘Euphoria’ is poised to explore new depths and complexities, offering viewers a glimpse into the lasting impact of their past experiences and the challenges they face as they navigate their way into the world. Fans are eager to see how the time jump will shape the characters’ journeys and what new stories the show will tell.
